Weaving Handpainted Warps
This is the kind of weaving I keep coming back to.
The kind of weaving where I create the colour through handpainting a warp and where the colours of the cloth are influenced by the optical mixing from the weft yarns. In this course, I demonstrate hand dyeing warp chains wound from wool, mohair, and silk as well as mercerized cotton. I dyed the warp chains with acid dyes and Procion MX fibre reactive dyes. The warps were tied on to dummy warps and woven on a 4-shaft counterbalance loom using a simple twill weave structure.
